Fencing Club – Bay State Fencers

Fencing Club

Embracing the Competitive Spirit with Respect

Bay State Fencers is a full-service urban fencing academy and club serving the communities in and around Boston, Cambridge and Somerville, MA. We have taken great care to build a permanent fencing facility with our student's and member's health and safety in mind. We offer six fencing strips with electronic machines, 2 of the six strips have competition grade grounded metal strips with timing/scoring machines, dressing rooms, lockers, and numerous other amenities.

We are pleased to offer Club Membership, Open Fencing, and Private Lessons for experienced epee fencers. We also have a complete in-house Armory, offering uniform and equipment sales, equipment repairs, and stenciling services. Bay State Fencers has the strongest Adult programs in the New England Division and we are committed to providing professional quality instruction to all ages.

Bay State Fencers is committed to fostering the principles of respect, patience and competitive spirit. We are committed to patiently and respectfully supporting each individual as they work to achieve their personal, athletic and competitive goals. All fencers who participate in our programs must be willing to demonstrate respect for one's self, respect for one's opponent, respect for the sport of fencing, and respect for all coaches and officials of the sport.

Open Fencing

Open Fencing is open to club members and current students to train and bout, as well as to socialize. During Open Fencing fencers warm up and fence practice bouts. Our most experienced fencers, visiting fencers from around the world, and fencers from other area clubs routinely participate in Open Fencing at Bay State Fencers, making it a wonderful opportunity to learn from the best.

The national office permits fencers to be members of more than one club, but to represent only one as their Primary/competitive club for the fencing season. In order to receive coaching at any competition fencers must represent Bay State Fencers as their Primary Club, we always welcome members who represent other clubs to join us during Open Fencing.
